Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is the highest town in Sri Lanka located in central province as at 1,889m above the sea level and the highest summit of 2,524 m is the Piduruthalagala mountain. The town well known as Little England, as it was a former british colony. It is much cooler climate than the lowlands of Sri Lanka, annual temperature is 16 °C but it can be as low as to 3 °C in the winter months. Surrounded mountains are mostly foggy with breathtaking waterfalls.

            Hortan plains in Nuwara Eliya is a key wildlife area of open grassy woodland with Leopard, Sambar, and the endemic Purple-faced Langur and many endemic highland birds. Has a very rich soil, perfect for vegitables, fruits, flowers and it is the land for tea in the country.
